Tourbus Tuesdays - The Louvre

Everyone hits the museums when they come to Paris.  We are slowly working our way through.  Everyone knows about the Louvre and I am going to risk heresy by saying it, but.... it is not my favorite.  Ok, so the Louvre has some very well know pieces, it is massive, it is a lot of bang for your buck (you could spend days there).  But it also has LOTS of people (like lots of young tourist girls taking duck-lipped selfies in front of the Mona Lisa).  The lines are long, and you will never be alone in the museum.  But, I get it.  If you are going to go to Paris once in your life, you are going to want to go.  So, if you must go, here are a few tips.

1. Tourists wake up late, GO EARLY
2. Don't wait in the line at the famous pyramid.  Go in the Louvre Carrousel entrance (it is the entrance to a small underground mall) and buy your tickets at the small kiosk down the hallway that is just after the food court.  It will save you some time in line and if it is rainy you get to wait in line inside.
3. Do a little research before you go.  Decide what pieces you really want to see.  The museum is huge and if you really want to maximize your time, have a plan.
4. Consider what kind of art you want to see.  If modern art is more your style or if art in a bit of a less hectic crowd is more your style, consider the fabulous and weird Pompidou Center (modern) or my personal favorite, the Musee D'Orsay.  I'll talk more about these two museums next Tuesday!
